Psychotherapy.....
Your Journey of Self Discovery
"If we don't change, we don't grow.
If we don't grow, we are not really living."
~ Gail Sheehy
There is felt within, an urgency...perhaps a nudge or a nagging to make some
change...to take a look at where you are and where you are going in your life.
You may want to ignore it.  There is comfort where you are...the familiar.

So time goes by and the whisper quiets.
Easing the Pain.

You may drink a little more.  Start smoking again.  Find yourself constantly reaching
into the refridgerator.  For some, self inflicted cuts to the skin can help to ease the
emotional pain.  For others there is compulsive spending sprees or gambling or sex.
Life becomes unmanagable.

The only way out is to look within.
The journey begins.

Psychotherapy is a guided tour.

Feelings, beliefs and needs are explored and defined.  Sometimes a look into your past is
necessary to understand the beliefs that are instilled in you and that have influenced the
choices you have made along the path of your life.

You may need to be challenged, to challenge; to be confronted and to confront.
And all the while, the pain begins to ease, you sleep a little better, the panic subsides and
the fog lifts.  You notice the sun.  You hear the birds.

The path in front of you widens as more options become available and an excitement about
life begins to bubble within, giving you much needed energy.

You grow.

Depression and anxiety set in.

Energy begins to fade.  You have a difficult time sleeping.  Worry invades your mind.
You may not want to get going in the morning.  Work and time with friends don't seem
interesting anymore.  Things you once enjoyed seem like chores now.

Muscles ache...heart aches.
You wonder about the meaning of life...you may think about death.

Others begin to ask "Are you ok?"
